Marketing is the Key to your Success

Posted by kevinh

Why do you think that Marketing is the Key to your Success?

Let me ask you How much is your marketing budget?

I believe to be successful your need to be spending at least 5 to 7% of your turnover on your marketing to your specific target customer.

marketing

Over the 35 years that i have been in business with testing and measuring our marketing, and it’s been proven that 5 to 7% of your turnover needs to be spent on marketing to achieve the sales you need.

You will find Most of the major franchises also use this these typical percentages for their Marketing.

Obviously there all types of Marketing, and different types suit different types of businesses.

So We have traditional Marketing, such as

  • Television, Radio
  • Press, Magazines
  • Email marketing, Direct Mail
  • Social media, eg  Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin
  • Webinars, your website and  Blogging

Here is an interesting statistic,

Only about 22% of businesses are satisfied with their conversion rates.

In the main part it is because they are not focusing on their target market.

What is the Reason for your Marketing,

The fact is – You can have the best product or service in the world BUT if no one knows about it, how can you sell it?

awareness

You can have the best product out there and be passionate about it, but if no one knows about it, you will never sell it.

When marketing, you need to ask yourself, who is my ideal customer?

This is so important to know, although many business owners don’t have a clue.

There is no point marketing to just everybody, when you have a target market.

Your marketing becomes much less effective when you generalise!

Your marketing strategy affects the way you run your entire business, if you want it to be key to your success, it should be planned and developed in consultation with your team.

It is a wide-reaching and comprehensive strategic planning tool that:

  • describes your business and its products and services
  • explains the position and role of your products and services in the market, and profiles your customers.
  • your competition, can identify the marketing tactics you will use, and
  • allows you to build a marketing plan and measure its effectiveness.

Always check what the opposition is doing and see what is working for them, it may well work for you.

My next question is Do you have a Marketing Plan?    if not, it would be a fantastic idea to get one happening! ASAP.

Please tell me:
— Do you know who your Target Market is ?
— Do you know who your ideal customer is?Using your Marketing Plan and with proper targeted marketing you can demand a higher price for your product or service and still have happy customers… <<LEARN MORE>>

marketing

Within your Marketing Plan, first of all, you need to Develop a marketing strategy.

Effective marketing starts with a considered, well-informed marketing strategy.

A good marketing strategy helps you define your vision, mission and business goals, and outlines the steps you need to take to achieve these goals.

Who of you are not Testing and Measuring your Marketing?

All marketing needs to be tested and measured regularly to confirm it is getting the results you require

When setting goals for your marketing plan, it’s critical to be as targeted as possible so you can effectively measure the outcomes against what set out to achieve.

Research your market

Research is an essential part of your marketing strategy.

You need to gather information about your market, such as its size, growth, social trends and demographics (population statistics such as age, gender and family type).

It is important to keep an eye on your market so you are aware of any changes over time, so your strategy remains relevant and targeted.

Profile your potential customers

Use your market research to develop a profile of the customers you are targeting and identify their needs.

The profile will reveal their buying patterns, including how they buy, where they buy and what they buy.

Again, regularly review trends so you don’t miss out on new opportunities or become irrelevant with your marketing message.

While you try to find new customers, make sure your marketing strategy also allows you to maintain relationships with your existing customers.

Once you have learnt how to measure and research your marketing, it will give you much better results!

Does your marketing plan have a unique benefit or point of difference?

unique benefit

It will need to, so as to create more sales by marketing and selling that point of difference and that also allows you to differentiate yourself from your opposition. Because when you have that difference, customers tend not to price shop to the same degree.

A unique benefit can be just a simple thing, like the service station example I gave you earlier, where the difference was just the chance to win something of value. So, competitions can work as well.

The key to building a sustainable point of difference relative to your competition is to understand that ultimately the only thing that matters is – the customer experience!

That is, how the customer perceives their experience when they come into contact with your business. It can be your warranty or guarantee you offer, or the fact that you have free delivery, or that you come to them, it can be the way you speak with them, or even the telephone call, you need to give them an awesome experience!

Does your Business have a Point of Difference?

“We Don’t Sell Products, we Sell Dreams” ….. Steve Jobs from Apple

Apple’s strategy involves selling their consumers a global package of dreams, personal experiences, and status, and it makes almost all other products go unnoticed if they don’t carry the Apple logo.

How To Create a Great Sales Team

Posted by kevinh

How To Create a Great Sales Team. How does your sales team stack up?  Are they committed and happy?

sales team

To have a great sales team, you need to reward them well for their effortsgive them encouragement and show them you care.

Hotspot Marketing research

46% of salespeople didn’t intend to go into the sales profession.

And those who did not intend to pursue sales are less likely to seek training outside of work.

as Richard Branson from Virgin said:

“Reward your team so well, that they don’t want to leave and if they are happy they will look after your customers for you”

Now that’s a great Quote

Do you have a Job description for all of your sales people and staff in general?

job description

It is important to give your sales team a job description.

A job description gives your employee a clear direction of what his or her duties are, and step by step instructions and criteria of the direction for each employee, how you want them to perform, what their remuneration is, and their hours of duty. You should work out what skills and knowledge you need, and what any new staff member will be expected to do.

Also, if you are replacing a staff member, it is a good time to update his or her job description.

When you have all your job descriptions completed, it will be so beneficial.

This is also important so all your staff members will know exactly what is required of them.

This will make your business operate so much more smoothly and give you more time, and flexibility.

Team Training and Coaching

is so important so as to have a team who you can trust to do as per your company’s policy and procedures and that will then give you more freedom in your life.

Sales training is so important, as not many sales people know how to ask for the sale, they let customers just choose to buy or not to buy, and do not sell to them, loosing sales consistently.

You will need to have some good sales training and coaching techniques and procedures, that you can implement and this will improve their sales out of sight.

Do You Have The Business, Lifestyle and Freedom That You’ve Always Wanted?

Posted by kevinh

Systems will give you more life style and freedom;  will give you more Sanity:  No more long hours staying back trying to figure it all out. You’ll also free up time for family instead of being a slave to your business.

Systems will give you more Efficiency: You don’t need to re-invent the wheel every time there is an issue. The business will run better and more efficiently than ever before.

Systems will give you more Empowerment: Employees are empowered when they know how to perform their job and there is consistency throughout the business.

You, the business owner gets to use your talents to do the work that first got you excited about your business.

Robert Kiyosaki  author of ( Cashflow Quadrant) says
For a Business to survive and thrive, 100% of all systems must functioning and accountable”

he says for example: An airplane is a system of systems. If an airplane takes off and the fuel system fails, there’s often a crash.

cash flow quadrant

The same things happen in business. It’s not the systems that you know about that are the problem – it’s the systems you are not aware of that cause you to crash”

Do you find you consistently get mistakes and errors made by your staff??

Most mistakes and errors in businesses are the result of not having clearly defined procedures.

When you get Consistency: Customers become loyal fans as they start to expect and receive the best customer service. Your team will become more committed as they will know exactly what to do and what you expect!

You will create Value:

Having A systemised business is far more valuable than a non-systemised business.

Having well documented systems and processes, significantly increases the value of your business, because it can more easily be operated by a new owner or duplicated.

A systemised business is worth 3-5 times as much as a non-systemised business!

Starting on the right track to systemising your business isn’t really that hard if you spend time planning out the structure and strategy first.
